Today we finished our commercial and worked on our rationale. We had to re-film a scene in our commercial because there was a grammatical mistake. We then edited in into the iMovie, checked if various times and added text to the beginning of the commercial. We showed it to Ms. Greer and after many checks we finally had no more obvious mistakes. With this we exported it and gave each of us a copy so we could each upload them to our blogs and we could have more than one just in case. We had a problem because there were no cameras left in the library, but we were able to solve it by filming with a Galaxy Tab. We then went into Google Drive and worked and revised our rationale. We will keep working on the rationale through Google Docs and will finally turn it in before Sat. at 5, completed.
What have I enjoyed about this style of learning?
What I enjoyed about this style of learning was being able to work freely, in groups and not sitting in a classroom. I liked how we did not have to sit still in a class for 90 minutes. We could work independently in order to get the work done. This unit was very productive but at the same more relaxed as we had to look over ourselves and not be a teacher.
What suggestions would you make to improve this process?
I have various suggestions for the improvement of this process. I think that in the library there should be a range of camera arranged for 9th grade, this way we won't have to film with tablets that do not reach the quality of a video camera. Separately, I believe that it would have been better if we were told that we only had to do one commercial since the beginning so we could have focused in only one to make it better. Lastly, that we could have had different teacher-reviews through out the process. However, with this exemptions the process was adequate.
Today we worked very cooperatively in the group. We were all focused and working so we could get the task done. We all collaborated in the editing and gave ideas for the rationale. I believe that overall in the project we all worked really well and were a productive Ad Team.

Reflection 10
4 April 2013
Today we decided to edit our pitch with the last recordings that we made. We used Jenny's iMovie to edit the clips together and start creating our commercial. We were able to upload each of the clips into the iMovie and started to insert in the text and the transitions but we had a problem with this. We couldn't fit the transitions in correctly because it overlapped with the video clips, so we decided to look at it after we finished the editing. Then we added some music to the last part and showed our improved commercial to Ms. Greer. We got her feedback including that- the flashback does not look like a flashback and in the part where I steal the pencil case Jenny and Nicole should see me. We then started to make these changes but we will continue them after class because we had no time to finish them.
As Morrie says in "Tuesdays by Morrie" by Mitch Albom, if I only had 10 minutes to feel sorry for myself I would feel sorry for all the discussion and disagreements that we had as an Ad Team. As we discussed even though we knew that the target was a good commercial, we could have skipped these discussions and haven more time to work or a different variety of ideas. I would feel sorry for discussing instead of having more patience.
As a group today we worked really well. We were always on task and willing to help in the commercial. We were all focused while we looked for facts and edited our commercial in different ways. We all contributed ideas for the writing ideas about the music and how we could improve our commercial. We are definitely on track for having a great commercial and rationale (which we plan to start working on) to turn in. We have decided to turn in the commercial before the 15th of April to make sure that this assessment is included as part of the grades for the Interim Report.

Reflection 9
1 April 2013
Today we finished the filming for our commercial. We were able to film all the scenes that we missed. Another thing that we did was check all our dialogue for our commercial. We made sure that everything we were saying was grammatically correct and that it made sense. We also adjusted the dialogue so it would not be overwhelming. We took 40 minutes to film everything as we tested audio and visuals and filmed more than one time to have different footage to choose from. This way we would be able to choose the best one. We talked about the targets for our commercial and worked on the points that had been pointed our by the feedback. Our deadline was extended to the 15th of April, so this way we have more time to work. We will start to edit the video as homework but we will also be able to work on it in class. If we have time through Facebook we will start to brainstorm ideas for our rationale so we can start to work in the next-next class. As soon as we edit, revise and add the text to the footage that we recorded today we are going to be done with our commercial.
Would I hire myself?
I would only hire myself after I have created an improved commercial. I would hire myself because I believe that we have been working with due dates and that we have created a commercial that follows all the requirements. We have interesting visuals, audio and text and unique organization techniques, as flashbacks. We are also able to persuade the target audience and teach them about stealing in school. I would only hire myself after the pitch was made because after we presented the pitch we are working even better than we did before. We improved the commercial, worked cooperatively as an Ad Team and fixed many grammar and tone mistakes that our commercial possessed. It we worked like in the last classes and produced a revised and persuasive commercial as I did know, I would hire myself.

Today we presented our pitch in class. We found out that we had to finalize only one project so after presenting our two different pitches to the class, with their feedback, we decided to stick to our commercial about stealing. We thought that this commercial was more effective and fit best the rubric and task sheet. Our stealing commercial also had the best comments and less mistakes. We were a little nervous while presenting, but we could get over it and it was comforting to have a script for exactly what we needed to say and explain. We also got feedback from our class and peers and noticed that we had to change various things like the camera stability and the sound so we decided to film our videos again. We kept the papers so that next class we could compare our new commercials to it, to know if we improved. We also plan to compare it to the commercial that we presented in our pitch to see the improvement and to prove that we have worked on our mistakes. I also watched the other pitches to see which ideas we could use. I also took notes of what we could change to have encountered for the next commercial.
Our pitches were completely ready but each of us did not know exactly what to say. I had written the whole script including our intended audience, our objective and why we did everything that we did but my group and I had no time to review what we each had to say. I think as a group this class and weekend we did not work as well as we could have prepared more for the pitch and separate the tasks equally. With Jenny in SAAC it made it really difficult to meet and stay in contact so we could not prepare for it as well. This week I put to work my leadership skills to make sure we did as much as possible. We are planning to work hard next week and meet before the due date so we will be able to finish a great project.

Today we stayed 20 minutes after school to film our commercial. We had a problem as Nicole was absent so we could just film one part of the scenes in the commercial. Jenny filmed me in the stealing pencil case scene and I made sure I was shouting and the camera was stable so we could fix this problem. Reflection 7
21 March 2013
Today we had various problems. Jenny was not able to take pictures and videos about my choice and we had to switch the idea of a bad value. We had to switch from littering to stealing because we could not film a commercial of littering with 2 people plus we didn't know how. Separately, the footage from last class could not be used as it was vertical instead of horizontal and it did not fit in iMovie. However, for me the main reason for the change was that the littering commercial looked messy and there was no reason or background meaning to to it so it did not meet the requirements in the rubric and task sheet. So, we rented a camera from the library and the information we had about filming and started to film the commercial about stealing. I had written out a storyboard as homework, when I realized that the littering video did not reach the requirements. In this storyboard I had written all the details and I was thinking of every detail and how it could positively impact it. (this will be explained in the pitch and rationale). This time we used a filming camera instead of an iPod because we realized this way it had better resolution and it would be specifically dimensioned so it could fit into iMovie or any editing program. So, we filmed three different takes of stealing situations from different angles and ideas and we will edit as homework and create the pitch using the Facebook group. Apart from it we filmed some ideas for the passion commercial. We took small videos of people doing sports, paintings and instruments around the PAC. For the pitch of this commercial we plan to create it as story boards and film in the next class.
I will post the ideas and videos on the Facebook group so Jenny can also see them as she was not in class.

However, she is still involved through the facebook group. Nicole and I worked very cooperatively today. We were engaged and focus to be able to finish the stealing commercial. We worked through the hot sun and got back to class so we could reflect and discuss about our reflection and pitch. We were also able to conclude the meaning behind our commercials and started to think what we would explain in the pitch and how. I think that we are working very well as a group and have started to use facebook in a better way to communicate and collaborate with one another. We have currently taught better about our commercials and with the new films, edits and decisions that we have taken I believe that we are going to be able to create two great pitches for Tuesday. Then we are going to finish filming to be able to produce two detailed commercials.

Reflection 6

Today we only worked in our commercials because we finished the book last class. We started to film commercial #1, the one about littering in FDR. We went to look for trash, however as it is Monday the school was clean and we were only able to find paper, but we used it anyway. We took many photos of paper balls on top of Jenny and also filmed how they kept incrementing every time. We then filmed us picking up all the trash and then we had to put the photos and videos in the computer. Nevertheless, we had a problem as we did not have the correct cable. So, we tried to send the photos by mail but as it was slow we did not have time to edit the video and do the voiceovers so we plan to do it after school using Skype or the Facebook group. We are each going to contribute to the editing until we can get close to the pitch. We are almost done with the filming but we may also film other days to have different kinds of trash. As soon as we edit we will be able to finalize our pitch for this commercial.

I believe that we are working quite well as a group. We all collaborated in the filming of the commercial and all volunteered in appearing in it or at least create a voice-over. We all helped clean up an gave ideas to create the best commercial ever. While filming, we were all focused so we could get the task done in class time and when we didn't finish we were all happily willing to be able to work in this commercial outside of class time. As we could not meet we plan to do it online. I congratulate my group because we are all willing to do out job so we can get a great outcome.

Reflection 5

Today we discussed the ending of the book and its last 5 chapters. How Morrie and Mitch had a total of thirteen meeting and were finally able to say goodbye. I found out how it was Morrie idea to write the book as their last project and I admire how Morrie always had time to meet with Mitch and was able to do one last interview. I also enjoyed reading the part where Mitch finally started to value the world. After he saw his teacher die he became for consient and did everything to stay in contact with his brother. Finally, Morrie couldn't move from his bed and he was completely dependent, he was in coma for two days and when everybody left the room he took his last breath. Mitch thought that Morrie had specifically died that way, so no one would watch him die. One of the last things I learned was: Morrie remembered Mitch but Mitch didn’t remember Morrie becaues Mitch called Morrie and said: “Hello I am Mitch and I don’t know if you remeber me but I was one of your students in the 1970’s?” and Morrie responded: “Why didn’t you call me coach?” and that Morrie died on a Tuesday. I also liked how Mitch did uncomfortable thing just for his friend. At the beginning he was not comfortable with Morrie sickness but at the end he started to help by patting his back so that he could be close with him. After finishing this book I had two final questions, they were--Would Mitch had met with Morrie if he had not seen him in the TV interview? Would Morrie have tried to contact him? and Did Morrie die coincidentally on a Tuesday or did he hold on until that day?
After we finished the book talk, we started to work in our commercial planning agency. We created the outline for our commercial about my choice/following your passion so we could rapidly start filming. Jenny also said that she could film the my choice activities in her my choice, photography. We decided that we would film some my choice activities and say how here in FDR we follow our different passions freely. We also started to discuss whether we should film ourselves for the trash commercials or different people who left behind trash and should we ask permission or not. We were able to finish what we had on our calendar today and I think we are working rather good as a group. We all had read our part of the book and discussed extensively about it getting new themes and ideas, we also discussed questions and how we thought the book ending was. I believe I am also working very good in this group. I help with my partners keep us focused and on track. I have documented all my notes into the Google Docs and have updated my blog daily. We are communicating through he Google Docs, however we do not use the Facebook group to frequently because we thing Google Docs is more organized and easier to right because if you quit it will automatically save instead of Facebook which will delete. In my commercial agency we are all working in a very good manner. We were all focused and on task and were able to finish the outline for our second commercial so we could start filming. We were able to do all the coordination and complete all the details. We are in a very good position compared to calendar and I believe we are going to be able to finish this project in the deadline. I would like to congratulate my group because we have shown exemplary cooperation and we do a great job in staying on task and we were able to outline two very good commercials.
This book helped me realize that I shouldn't wait until last minute to do thing I want to do because you don't really know when last minute is because when you realize it, it can already be to late.

Reflection 4

Today we started with a book talk from chapters 19-23. We discussed how Mitch and Morrie already had ten reunions and finally Morrie was able to meet Mitch's wife Janine. Also, how Morrie was now completely dependent but he was enjoying it as he was being a child again. I liked how Morrie's first priority was not money and power and many people had while he was living, instead he said that "lots of money cannot replace tenderness and lots of power cannot replace tenderness". Separately, I think that Morrie would disagree on how people think now a days regarding this subject. I also learned in this book that in order to get attention on something on someone you have to focus in only them, so you won't get distracted. As many people lose focus after 30 seconds. I will be able to use this in my commercials as a technique to keep the viewer hooked. Being almost in the end of the book a question has arisen--would Morrie and Mitch have talked it Morrie was never sick?

In this class, we also worked in the commercial agency. We were able to create an outline for out first commercial about littering. We figured the camera angles and what would be in each part however we still need to find a specific fact. We now have the outline and ideas for one commercial so in two classes after we have two outlines we can start filming. We are on schedule right now and have rechecked our first commercial. We are all reading on time and our notes and perfectly recorded in our Google Doc. As a group we are working in cooperation and everybody is following their task and willing to be in the commercial. However, sometimes my business partners get a little bit of task, but they rapidly get back to work so it does not matter. Similarly, I get distracted a couple times each class, but it is acceptable because we still manage to finish everything. I believe that we are able to get back on schedule and will be able to create the pitch for the deadline.

I liked how Morrie's first priority was not money and power and many people had while he was living, instead he said that "lots of money cannot replace tenderness and lots of power cannot replace tenderness". Separately, I think that Morrie would disagree on how people think now a days regarding this subject. I also learned in this book that in order to get attention on something on someone you have to focus in only them, so you won't get distracted. As many people lose focus after 30 seconds. I will be able to use this in my commercials as a technique to keep the viewer hooked. Being almost in the end of the book a question has arisen--would Morrie and Mitch have talked it Morrie was never sick?

In this class, we also worked in the commercial agency. We were able to create an outline for out first commercial about littering. We figured the camera angles and what would be in each part however we still need to find a specific fact. We now have the outline and ideas for one commercial so in two classes after we have two outlines we can start filming. We are on schedule right now and have rechecked our first commercial. We are all reading on time and our notes and perfectly recorded in our Google Doc. As a group we are working in cooperation and everybody is following their task and willing to be in the commercial. However, sometimes my business partners get a little bit of task, but they rapidly get back to work so it does not matter. Similarly, I get distracted a couple times each class, but it is acceptable because we still manage to finish everything. I believe that we are able to get back on schedule and will be able to create the pitch for the deadline.

Reflection 3
7 March 2013
Today we discussed chapters 14 to 18 of Tuesday's with Morrie. We talked about how Morrie was not selfish at all as he always but others before him. Sometimes, I can relate to this part of the book because sometimes I do not tell my parents about my headaches because I don't want to bother them. He did not let his sickness interfere with him and he always cared about others and tried to live each day to the fullest. He worsted everyday as he now had to sleep with oxygen and he never stopped coughing. He constantly referred to Buddhists and their philosophies. Mitch and Morrie had met for 5 Tuesdays and each time they talked about something unique. Mitch always distracted himself from life with work and always brought food to the meeting with Morrie. A topic I learned was that one should never give up and I liked the idea that of how Morrie would always put others before him.
Today we advanced on our commercial. We were a little behind because of the half a class that we missed, but we were almost able to catch up. We did not have time to brainstorm ideas last class so this time we had to do that, so we were not able to create the outline. We plan to work through Facebook and Google Docs in the days which we do not have class. We now have our two values and broad ideas for the commercial. We started to work will in the group because we had all read and we could discuss about it. We were also able to analyze our understanding of the book. Then we got to work in our commercial-we started in the right foot but them my partners got a little distracted. However, after they got back in task we all collaborated and were able to gather ideas and upload them to our Google Doc. The group is working well because we all have the same reading skills. We are all fast readers and can easily understand the book. There have been no obstacles in our advertisement agency yet and I believe that we will be able to create meaningful and interesting commercials.

Reflection 2

Today we discussed our reading from chapter 9 to 13. We recorded our notes into a Google Drive document so it could be accesible to everyone in my group and the teacher. We annotated what had happened throughout the book and what happened with Mitch and Morrie and what were their ideas of thinking. How their thinking has involved and what was their point of view to the world. Their ideas of thinking and lastly, how the book changed setting and time. How it revolved around three times periods. I think this is an effective way of writing because it helps you understand the way that Mitch and Morrie think and why.
I think that in our group we are working really effectively, however we had some issues writing on the Google Drive document because we would all write in the same line at the same time. We also sometimes talked at the same time or wrote the same information twice. Separately, we are all reading what we said on time and are understanding the book correctly. We now all have the same calendar, google document and facebook group. Today as we had a shortened period we were not able to discuss themes for our commercial so we plan to do it though the Facebook group or next class.

Reflection
28 February 2013
Today we discussed the first eight
chapters of Tuesday’s with Morrie by Mitch Alboom. It talked about a student
who lost contact with his favorite teacher after losing all the values that he
had taught him. A student named Mitch who had become addicted to work and was
married with no kids and Morrie. A university professor, who had a terminal disease, knew his purpose in life and loved talking philosophically . We got some values and
ideas from the book. How we should be direct, honest and to the point just like
Morrie had been in the interviews. Examples of the values in the book were sticking to your
ideas and culture and to live life. I learned from Morrie that one shouldn’t be
afraid from death.
After talking about the book we
also discussed about our two commercials. We started to think about our ideas
for both the positive and negative values. We decided to use pictures, clips
and maybe photos in a sequence for our commercials.
In our group, we all collaborated equally and all gave ideas about the book and
commercials. The group is working well and we were able to finish out
calendar/plan. We already set up the Facebook group and are ready to set up our
Google Docs. We separated into roles, which were—Nicole is the writer, Jenny
will work with the technology and I take care of the agenda and staying on
task. Having an equal role in this group, I believe that we will be able to
work together and produce a very good commercial.
